Masquerade!

I've been helping some friends with costume ideas for DragonCon, and the topic of masks has come up. So, I've been doing a lot of searching for all sorts of masks. I have to admit, my ideas are probably a bit more posh than a lot of folks; largely because last year I took a trip to Venice, and once you've seen what they do there. . . well. . . Wow!

Now, MeriMask is one of my favorites for this category; BUT, I've already featured them once in my blog. Here. And I try and do a new/different (at least one) Etsy Seller with each post.

Honestly, there's quite a few very talented leather mask makers on Etsy these days.

Many times, however, my friends are like me: small of budget but discriminating of taste.

This brings me to The Art of Tom Banwell. He's got over 30 years experience working with leather, wonderful style, and a price range that starts at $21.00! (pictured)

Of course, if you've got a little bit more to spend, his masks become more elaborate and impressive as the price rises; allowing you to find your own comfortable medium on the scale.

And even though she doesn't have an active Etsy store, I do have to give a plug to my friend, Megan Johnson who makes hand sculpted custom masks out of air-dry polymers. You can see her gallery of previous work on DeviantArt at Enchanted Masquerade.
